Miami Auto Shipping
With somewhere between 900,000 to 1 million wintering snowbird residents going to Miami each year, Miami was a logical location choice for one of our car shipping affiliates.
The Gulf Stream is what mainly controls the climate of Miami, which is considered tropical monsoon. Despite that, Miami normally has drier winters, with a wet season starting sometime in May and going through mid-October. Located right on the Atlantic coast, Miami has Miami Beach, a very popular travel destination. It also has Port Miami also known as the Cruise Capital of the World.
Port Miami is one of the largest ports in the US and is the largest cruise ship port in the world. It’s also been called the Cargo Gateway of the Americas, ranking second behind the Port of South Louisiana for cargo tonnage imported and exported from Latin America. The primary airport for the area is the Miami International Airport. It’s the single largest international gateway for American Airlines and is considered a major hub. MIA is also the 2nd largest international port of entry for foreigners behind JFK in New York. The next closest airport to the area is Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
Another of Miami’s nicknames is the Capital of Latin America in part because it has a large majority of Cuban-Americans. In 2008, it was also named America’s Cleanest City by Forbes for its good air quality year round, along with clean drinking water, large green spaces, and clean streets thanks to their city-wide recycling programs.
The best part about Miami is that its climate allows for outdoor activities year-round. There are numerous rivers, bays, marinas, canals and, of course, the Atlantic Ocean making fishing, boating, snorkeling, and scuba diving very popular. There are also over 80 parks throughout the city, with the most popular, and largest, being Bayfront Park, Peacock Park, Morningside Park, Bicentennial Park, Tropical Park, Watson Island, and Virginia Key. Other great attractions include the Miami Seaquarium, Zoo Miami, and Jungle Island.
Miami has 14 colleges and universities, with 10 of them being private institutions. The list includes University of Miami, St. Thomas University, and Florida International University.
