Relevant items for auto shipping to and/or from Alaska:
- Make sure your vehicle(s) is in good working order and mechanically sound (no issues with starting, running, and driving).
- Ensure the emergency brake is fully functional.
- All licenses and registrations need to be up-to-date and able to be operated on public highways or streets.
- Since a condition report will be done for the exterior of your vehicle, make sure that it’s been cleaned, including the underside.
- Any exterior additions must be removed, such as luggage racks, brush bars, winches, etc. Antennas must also be removed or retracted.
- Automobile must be properly winterized: antifreeze is filled, proper cold weather battery is installed, tires aren’t cracked or need to be replaced (consider changing to all-terrain tires), and have a small survival kit with a blanket, first aid kit, and small rations.
- Non-valuable personal items may be packed in the automobile, but only in the in the trunk or cargo area below the window level and rear seats up. No more than 100lbs allowed. You will need to document all items on the sheet provided prior to auto shipping and must include any and all items left in the vehicle.* Items will not be covered by the cargo insurance. Items that are not allowed under any circumstance: prescription medicine or other drugs, firearms, alcohol, or items of value.
- A complete set of keys for all lockable compartments must be left.
- Alarms must be disabled, disconnected, or turned off.
- Windows must be free of cracks and/or chips. For small chips please submit for approval prior to scheduling a shipment.
- Have no more than ¼ of a tank of gas left in the vehicle. Per HAZMAT laws for maritime shipments, vehicles with more than ¼ of a tank will be denied. Vehicles with diesel may have up to ½ of a tank of gas.
- Fire extinguishers must be removed.
- Automobiles that are older than 30 years, are inoperable in any way, above 7 feet in height, or that have less than 6 inches of ground clearance will incur additional fees for specialized handling.
- Payment for overseas shipping must be received by the overseas carrier prior to/or at the time of drop off at port location.

- Provide a copy of the complete VIN, registration, and driver’s license.
- Have a signed copy of the terms and conditions provided.
- Bring the Certificate of Ownership and a current Certificate of Registration**
- If our carrier or someone other than the registered owner drops the vehicle: A letter of authorization from the registered owner(s) authorizing shipment (that has been notarized) must be provided.
- A letter authorizing shipment to Alaska from the lien holder is required if the lien holder is named on the Certificate of Ownership or Registration (Note: letter doesn’t have to be notarized).**
